Paper guidelines

A note on media condition

Please avoid using dirty, dog-eared, creased or torn media in any of the Physics printers. Doing so can produce poor quality prints, can lead to jamming, or may even damage the printers.

Choose one:

Paper for Epson Colour Stylus 1160 (p105)

This is an ink jet printer that yields best results when good quality ink jet paper or special photographic paper is used. Here are some suggested media types along with the maximum number of sheets you should stack in the input media tray:

  • Photo Quality Ink Jet Paper (up to the left edge guide arrow)

  • Photo Paper (200x300mm: 1 sheet only, 4x6inch: 20 sheets)

  • Ink Jet Transparencies (30 sheets)

A note on plain photocopier paper. This type of paper produces output that is comparable to the lower quality Hewlett-Packard CopyJet M (p62colour) print, and might be regarded as wasteful and slow. Print your drafts on the faster p62colour printer instead.

Loading instructions:

  • If using any type of card, heavyweight or photographic media please make sure the backing sheet is the rear most sheet in the input media tray. This cardboard sheet is needed to support media as it enters the printer and helps prevent misfeeds and paper jamming.

  • Gently place the paper in the input paper tray with the print side face up.

Paper for Hewlett-Packard CopyJet M (p62colour)

This is an ink jet printer that works best with good quality inkjet paper or transparencies. Here are some suggested paper types:

  • Premium Ink Jet Paper

  • Premium Glossy Paper

  • Premium Transparency Film

While you can use plain photocopier paper for drafts please be aware that the porous nature and grain of the photocopier paper can result in ink bleeding that significantly reduces print quality.

Loading instructions:

  • Remember to set the paper type on the front panel before submitting your job to the printer

  • Transparencies: load with the arrowed paper strip face up and the arrows pointing away from you (the rough side should be face up)

  • Ink jet paper: load with the watermark arrow side face up

  • Glossy paper: load with the non-glossy side face up
