Newt RAID5 rollout

Fri 7 May 2004, 1200-1400

Newt will experience around two hours of down-time while user and operating system data is migrated to a new externally attached RAID unit. The RAID unit allows a disk to crash without impacting users (that is, no down-time during future disk crashes or disk replacements). Most of the two hours will be spent uncoupling critical operating system components from the present disk setup, and incrementally copying user data to the new array.

Explanation of states:
Up=Service will 'failover'. It will be on the air.
Unaffected=Service has nothing to do with the host in question. It will be on the air.
Down=Service can not 'failover'. It will be off the air.
